To assist new golfers in becoming acquainted with the fundamentals of the Rules, the R&A has published a new “Quick Guide to the Rules of Golf” video.
The video addresses 16 important topics, such as what to do before beginning your round, understanding the various areas of the course, and what to do when you can’t play the ball as it lays. It is voiced by golf commentators Iona Stephen and Kit Alexander.

The 13-minute video implies that the viewer knows very little about the game or the Rules while providing the essential information a golfer needs to navigate a course. The Rules are intended to be simpler to comprehend for golfers who play on actual golf courses through the use of video, diagrams, and verbal explanations.

The Quick Guide is intended for players transitioning from being learner golfers to acquiring a handicap while also helping more seasoned golfers. Animated clips from the AIG Women’s Open and The Open provide a brief explanation of the rules.
To make it simpler for national associations to translate and enable the addition of subtitles, it has been made with a voiceover and little text on the screen. The video will have subtitles available on the web and app versions in a total of 15 different languages.
The tools offered in the Official R&A Rules App, which was updated earlier this year, will be further expanded with the publication of the Quick Guide.
For the advantage of golfers of all skill levels, the Rules App offers additional visual aids, diagrams, and videos to clarify the Rules and offers visual guidance on many frequent situations.
