A Complete List of Malaysia’s Medal Total from the SEA Games in 2023

Hannah Yeoh, Malaysia’s Minister of Youth and Sports, has set a goal of 141 medals for the team at the 2023 Southeast Asian Games.

Team Malaysia is sure that its athletes would represent the nation admirably and surpass the number of medals they won at the previous SEA Games in Hanoi, Vietnam, where they took home 39 gold, 45 silver, and 90 bronze. The 677 competitors from Malaysia are putting in a lot of effort to win gold for their nation.

SEA Games 2023

Malaysian athletes took home numerous medals during the SEA Games on May 6, 2023. Wan Athirah Hidayah Ahmad Fuzli took home a bronze medal in the women’s obstacle race, William Yoong Wei Theng took home a bronze in the men’s 100-meter sprint, Shahmalarani A/P Chandran took home the first gold in the Karate – Women’s Kumite below 50kg competition, and Prem Kumar won the first silver medal.

A/L Selvam won the Karate – Men’s Kumite below 55kg competition, while Muhammad Aiqal Asmadie took home the silver medal in the men’s kata, Lovelly Anne Roberth, Naccy Nelly Evvaferra Rojin, and Niathalia Sherawinnie Yampil took home the bronze in the women’s team kata, Nur Assyria Zainal Abidin took home the silver medal in the obstacle race.

In a range of sports and competitions, Malaysian athletes took home 10 medals, including three gold, five silver, and two bronze. The competitors from Malaysia contributed 18 medals to their total, including six gold, six silver, and six bronze, moving the nation one medal closer to its goal of 141 medals.

Athletics, golf, boxing, martial arts, and other sports saw Malaysian sportsmen flourish, giving honor to their nation. Malaysian athletes excelled in a variety of sports, as seen by their three gold, eight silver, and seven bronze medals.

At the 2023 Southeast Asia (SEA) Games, Malaysian competitors showed off their prowess and tenacity by taking home 20 medals from various competitions. Tan Cheong Min, Nur Amirull Fakhruddin, Nur Humaira Abdul Karim, Nurul Hidayah Abdul Karim, Jason Loo, Enrique Macartney Anak Harold, and Andre Anura were among the gold medal winners.

Sydney Chin, Chin Ken Haw, Moh Keen Hoo, and Lim Kok Leong won silver medals; Pang Pui Yee, Tan Zhi Yan, Surayya Rizzal, Mitsuki Leong, and Koay Hao Sheng won bronze.

A total of six bronze and one silver medal were won by Malaysian athletes at the SEA Games 2023, including Team Malaysia in the traditional boat race 12 Crews U24 Women 250m, Nor Ausyah Mihd Zubir in cycling for women, Hans Yoong and Chen Xing Han in fencing for men, Sebastian Tan and Muhammad Luqman Hakim Suhaimi in men’s kyorugi under-54kg and under-87kg for taekwondo, and Team Malaysia in the traditional boat race for three crews ages 24 women.
