An Amazon Employee Unintentionally Recorded Her Termination on Live Video

The worst day of a former Amazon employee‘s career as a blogger was unintentionally recorded. The worker said in her TikTok video that she had intended to record her WFH in Wes Anderson style but had instead unintentionally recorded herself being terminated.

While filming her “A Day in the Life” video for TikTok, Jennifer Lucas, an Amazon hiring manager, captured the moment she was mistakenly dismissed from her business.

An Ex-Amazon Employee

Before logging into work from his home, Lucas is shown in the video getting out of bed, brewing coffee, and cleaning his teeth. She discovers that she has been sacked when she opens her work email. It turned out she accidentally filmed herself getting fired while filming a cute Wes Anderson-style WFH.

On LinkedIn, Lucas discussed the layoff news and claimed that he was one of the 9,000 workers impacted by Amazon’s March layoffs. She started working for the organization in 2015 and aspired to work in hiring. She said in jest, “What now?” to her loved ones and pals. When she succeeds in her mission to be elevated to L6 and promoted to manager, the universe appears to have taken her promise seriously.

I was one of 9,000 workers affected by Amazon’s layoffs yesterday. I joined Amazon as a recent graduate to rise to L6 and become a manager when I began my job as a hiring coordinator, she stated.

To eliminate 9,000 jobs, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy announced a second round of layoffs in March. He clarified that it was a challenging choice made in the long-term best interests of the business. These job cuts come on top of the 18,000 posts that were just retired.

Employees from Amazon Web Services (AWS), Twitch, advertising, and human resources were laid off in March. According to Jassy, the organization has finished the second part of its business plan (“OP2”) and intends to eliminate an additional 9,000 jobs in the upcoming weeks.

The majority of these layoffs take place at Twitch, AWS, PXT, and advertising. The overall goal of Amazon’s layoffs was to restructure its workforce and streamline operations.

The business needed to guarantee its long-term viability because it is up against fierce competition from other tech behemoths. Unfortunately, this led to numerous job losses for workers like Jennifer Lucas, highlighting the difficulties and unpredictability of working in the tech sector.
