Hilda Baci of Nigeria Sets a New Record for the Longest Amount of Time Spent Cooking

After clocking in at 87 hours and 50 minutes, Nigerian chef Hilda Effiong Bassey, also known as Hilda Baci, beat the previous Guinness World Record for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual.”

Hilda, the Nigerian Jollof Queen, began the contest on Thursday at 4 p.m. by turning on her cooker, and on Monday morning she defeated the previous world record holder.

A New Record for Cooking

The 87 hours and 50 minutes that Nigerian chef Hilda Effiong Bassey also referred to as Hilda Baci, spent cooking beat the previous Guinness World Record for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual.”

Hilda, the Nigerian Jollof Queen, started the tournament on Thursday at 4 p.m. by turning on her cooker, and on Monday morning she beat the previous world record holder.

Let’s say that she has received a Guinness World Records certification. In that event, she will surpass the current world record holder, Indian chef Lata Tondon, who accomplished the feat in 2019 with 87 hours and 45 minutes of record-breaking uninterrupted cooking.

To break the previous record of 96 hours, Baci is currently cooking continuously in Amore Gardens in Lekki, Lagos State.

Despite the downpour, Nigerians, including several celebrities, cheered up the exhausted cook in her continuous record-breaking endeavor.
